3 Secrets Of Magicians

Filed under: Magician Magic Shows — maghyp @ 3:00 pm

Magicians have their secrets but they won’t tell. It’s a sworn oath for magicians not to tell the audience how a trick is done. There are 3 secrets though that they’ve shared all throughout the years. Here are their 3 secrets.

The first secret is that some tricks are done through sleight of hand. These are ways with which they skillfully hide an object and make it reappear on another hand. New magicians hide things up their sleeves. Those are old tricks and very few used them now.

Sleights of hand require a lot of practice to master. Beginners of magic use specially created gimmicks to create the illusion. Professional magicians make use of their impressive sleight of hand. It requires a lot of time, patience and hand coordination to fully understand and do.

Another secret is the art of misdirection. See this blank paper? And as audience looks at the blank paper, he is carefully getting another piece with his other hand. This is misdirection. Another type of misdirection is the kind that doesn’t let the audience see what’s really causing the tricks. You might have seen that a magician has a lot of assistants who also do incredible stuff, but what you didn’t know is that they are helping the magician perform the magic just with their presence.

Another kind of misdirection is the appropriate use of words. For example, a magician will tell you to look at the ‘empty’ box. We tend to look at the box as empty just because he said it. This causes our mind to wonder when the magician gets a rabbit out of it.

Misdirection takes a lot of practice and lots of time in planning. It requires body coordination (one body doing something while the other is doing another thing) and quick thinking. Misdirection is an art and magicians are proud of it.

Another secret is their patter or a magician’s constant talk. Misdirection is achieved mostly because of patter. The magician will ask you to look at his right hand and as you are looking, you won’t notice what his left hand is doing. This is a really clever way to achieve the illusion that what happens next becomes so magical with the wink of an eye.

Patter usually takes the form of a story, where a magician will tell you of something that happened to him someday. Sometimes it’s so funny that we actually forget to look at what their hands are doing or what their assistants are giving them.

Wanted: Magician Job

Filed under: Magician Magic Shows — maghyp @ 9:00 pm

In the entertainment industry, there is a wide market for magicians. Many companies, events coordinators and organizers rely on magic to break the ice, heighten socialization opportunities and give enjoyment to their audience and clients.

If you are really serious about pursuing a career in the magic and illusion industry, you have to undergo three steps to become a better magician or entertainer.

1. Hone the proper attitude. In any industry, being street wise can get you somewhere in your career but having the right attitude can get you anywhere. Complacent, arrogant and ignorant magicians have no chance of surviving the magical world.

2. Development of one’s performing persona. This is what an aspiring magician should work on. But most often having a strong personality can help one to get to the top. Usually, magicians are judged by how they deliver tricks with ample consideration on their stage presence.

3. Development of a show or act. There are three things you ought to do in developing your performance.

First, master your first set of techniques. But do not leave it to that. You must constantly reinvent yourself.

Second, cross examine the routines you mastered. Are they consistent with the persona you have created for yourself? You should match your routines (e.g. mental effects) with your serious magician persona.

Third, list or round up all the routines you have practiced and mastered. This will be your skeleton structure for your act/s. Now, think of ways to connect your routines to form a cohesive performance.

Magicians can be hired online as sites provide opportunities for them. Every state has their own groups of magician for different events. Customers often click on a website when looking for groups of magicians in their state. There are people who might be handling the magicians and contact them for you. They are categorized as low-end and high-end event coordinators. They are the ones who choose the set of magicians.

The low-end bookers for these magicians may not know exactly what you need unlike if you seek the expertise of high-end bookers. They will know exactly the kind of magicians you need.

So, would-be magicians can find jobs from companies offering such services to people. Aside from the common events that necessitate the entertainment provided by magicians, they also can do close-up shows that allow them to bring the magic right in front of smaller groups of audiences.

A magician should remember the investment he has to put in the profession like the time and effort for intensive practice, money and magical instruments. And most of all, a magician should possess an innovative mind to succeed in this field.

The Art of Performing Magic Tricks

We ve all been there. Our hands are sweaty, your heart is
racing and your hands are shaking like a leaf. Yes, I am
talking about trying to pull off your first magic trick that you
just learned. You are excited to show your friends and family
your amazing trick but then when the time comes, boom!!! its
like you are standing on stage in your underwear and everyone is
laughing at you!! Even though you have practiced the trick
hundred times or more and in front of the mirror, it s never the
same when you are about to do it to real people.

Well, have no fear, as this you ll be glad to hear it can be
conquered and you will pull of your trick like the pros!! You
see, it is natural for our body to tense up when the spotlight
is on you, now not everybody is the same, some people are just
naturally gifted to have that knack of performing for people,
they love the spotlight, then there are the other 90 percent
that have to work at it to get comfortable of the beading eyes
watching there every move.

So, what do we do about this nervousness?? Here are some quick
tips for you:

When performing any kind of magic, be it card magic or a certain
illusion…the best way to get your audiences attention so they
are not focusing on what you are sometimes trying to cover up,
is to use your hands as they will always follow your hands when
you talk. The other thing is to always look into their eyes,
this makes them focus on you also. Last but not least, in your
routine, ask your audience questions, this gets them even more
distracted and not so focused on trying to find the secret to
your magic trick!!

If you do all the above magic trick tips above, you will also
notice that you will loosen up in the process knowing that your
audience is in your control!!! No more sweaty hands, shakiness,
or standing in your underwear feeling:)

You just have to learn some patter , as in small talk, learn
some jokes, some one liners, this will take your magic
performance to the next level.

Practice these tips and you will have no problem with your
future performances.
