Landing Gigs As A Magician

Filed under: Magician Magic Shows — maghyp @ 9:00 pm

As a wedding magician, you can have great opportunities in marketing your skills. There are many ways for you to do that.

- For example, during the awkward period while waiting for the couple’s arrival in the venue of the reception, you can help lighten up the tension by providing entertainment. Sometimes it may take a while for the newlyweds to come to the reception, and it is not a good and pleasant idea for every one to be in a room that is full of almost complete strangers waiting for the couple to arrive. A magician like you can help ease this problem, and help people talk and laugh.

- In every reception, there is a DJ or a show band hired to entertain the guests. However, a magician like you can be a nice change from the usual dancing. While guests are eating their dinner, you can give 45 minutes of laughter and fun. You can do delightful tricks such as floating roses to offer to the wedding bridesmaid.

- It pays to do some research. Can you find out if there are many children that are going to be present at the wedding reception? If so, then you can make a show for the children, providing a nice diversion for them while their parents mingle.

- The tips above will bolster your record as a quality wedding magician who has a good reputation when it comes to performing on wedding occasions. However, if you are relatively free from your wedding gigs, why not make some promotional brochures for your target market. Your business card or brochure should say that you are the “Magician for Weddings” and not just “Magician for all Occasions.” Your marketing brochure should show that you are someone that is a specialist in the said market. Be the wedding expert.

- You might want to make a small “wedding planner” brochure, providing information on food arrangements, flower services, on renting a tuxedo or gown, among others. In the brochure, put in an article on how magicians can provide great entertainment in wedding receptions. Leave some room for your advertising. Distribute these to establishments that cater to such occasions. They would be happier to post your brochure if you include their establishments in your brochure.

- Make sure that customers can contact you anytime they want. Give them your phone and fax numbers, as well as your website and email addresses.

How Hypnosis Works

Filed under: Hypnosis NLP — maghyp @ 3:01 pm

Long thought of as a stage show or act of trickery by many, and as a dangerous practice which left the mind vulnerable to some, hypnosis is finding a new popularity among people these days. The growth of the use and acceptance of alternative treatments in the use of the 21st century individual has seen a corresponding surge in the number of people who are using hypnosis to treat problems. Hypnosis patients overwhelmingly use hypnosis in areas where they need a boost in will power to achieve a specific goal. The two most common areas for the use of hypnosis are among people who want to either quit smoking or lose weight.

Hypnosis should not be confused with cartoon depictions of sinister Lucifer like characters droning You are getting sleepy in monotones while swinging a pendulum. There is no circling of the pupils, and in fact the subject does not actually fall asleep. Hypnosis uses a method that most people already know about, and that has been in use by various companies since the advent of radio- the principle of subliminal messaging.

Many people have seen documentaries of images of Coke or popcorn flashed too fast for the mind to register on a movie screen. The result is an increased desire for the patrons, whose eyes were fast enough to register the image but who do not actually remember it. While distracted by the movie, they were open to subliminal messages.

The same process is how hypnotism works. Anytime a person is concentrating hard on a given task- whether it be reading, driving, or watching television- she is open to messages quickly and unobtrusively projected at her. Hypnosis seeks to implant a message in the brain while it is vulnerable to unobtrusive data.

For this reason, the phenomenon of self-hypnosis is gaining in usage. It is possible to design a program wherein the subliminal message ignore your cravings or something along that line is planted firmly in a subject s mind. Again, this process has been common knowledge for some time, as most people have known the strategy of placing a cassette under a pillow while asleep to help achieve a certain purpose.

Hypnosis is just like any other treatment- sometimes it will work, and sometimes it will not. There are many routes to go, whether you choose self-hypnosis, clinical hypnosis, or the use of a professional showman such as Romein. Any of these usages could result in success in terms of your goal, or failure.

What is Close-up Magic?

Filed under: Magician Magic Shows — maghyp @ 3:00 pm

Close-up magic is magical entertainment that happens right in front of you, magic you can not only see but feel and touch. This intimacy is what makes it so different from other types of magic. An expert close-up magician will involve and interact with the audience far more than a stage magician (or any other form of entertainer for that matter).

Most close-up magicians use common props such as playing cards, coins, sponge balls and rope. And all magicians perform the same basic magical effects with these props, making them appear, disappear, change, levitate, break and restore, and penetrate other objects. What is amazing about close-up magic is that it happens so close to you, sometimes while you are holding the props!

There are many standard close-up magic effects and standard routines used to present them. For example, the ‘Ambitious Card’ where a chosen card repeatedly rises to the top position in a deck of cards without any shuffling or cutting, or the ‘Sponge Balls’ where the balls move invisibly between the magician’s hands and those of the spectator’s. In fact, these routines are freely available if you care to look. Anyone can search the internet and buy books and DVDs on close-up magic, or even the props and standard routines.

What really sets one close-up magician apart from another is how they present their magic. In fact, presentation is the key - it is what makes close-up magic entertaining. A really good, professional magician will be creative and present their magic in an original and entertaining way. Sometimes humorous, sometimes mysterious, sometimes just plain weird and freaky. The magic becomes a vehicle for the personality and ideas of the performer.

This is what makes close-up magic great entertainment. An interesting, strange and funny person demonstrates the impossible, weird and wonderful, right under your nose!
