The Healing Qualities of Clinical Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring altered state of consciousness in which the subconscious part of your mind is accessed enabling the hypnotist to affect a particular problem by suggestion. Basically, the individual is put into a trance-like state which allows one’s attention to focus on a particular suggestion while being free of distraction.

Many people fear being hypnotized because they falsely believe they will have to give up control of their mind. Not true. Think about when you are so engrossed in a movie and you find yourself in tears. During these movies you are so involved that you actually felt emotion. You were literally in a hypnotic trance. Most importantly, though, you still had the power to emerge from that state if desired. Your mind may be guided by a movie, self-hypnosis tape, or hypnotist, but you still have the power to resist. If you fully believe and acknowledge that you have the power to resist any control of emotions, then hypnosis is nothing to fear.

Your mind is an untapped source of amazing power. If you change your mind, you must change your life. The most effective way to do this is to change your subconscious mind. Hypnosis is widely recognised as the easiest method we can employ to change the subconscious mind.

Hypnosis can be used as a healing tool in a variety of problems including:

Weight loss, Quit smoking, Insomnia, Stress management, Self esteem, Motivation, Memory, and Gambling.

When used as an accessory to psychotherapy, hypnosis can help clients enter a relaxed, comfortable, trance state for obtaining specific therapeutic outcomes. With clinical hypnosis, the therapist can make suggestions designed to help the client formulate specific internal processes (feelings, memories, images and internal self-talk) that will lead to mutually-agreed-upon outcomes.

Although clinical hypnosis is widely recognised as an effective method of treatment in many conditions, it doesn’t always work for everyone. Many people need a combination of various methods of therapy and hypnosis is often used with other forms of treatment. However, the anecdotal evidence of the healing qualities of hypnosis would indicate that it is, indeed, an extremely effective option.

It is not even necessary to be hypnotised by a hypnotherapist as such. There are many self-hypnosis CDs and videos available on the market today. These allow you to affect change in the comfort of your own home.

It’s really a misleading notion when people say they were hypnotized. What they really mean is that they allowed their mind to be hypnotized or they allowed a hypnotist to give suggestions that they chose to follow. Just remember that no one controls your mind unless you first grant permission!

Magic: The Science Of Illusion

Filed under: Magician Magic Shows — maghyp @ 3:00 pm

Magic has been connected to mystery and things that cannot be explained by science. But, during the recent years, there has been in-depth studies focused to magic. Now, magic is known to be the science of illusion. More than that, magic is also an art based on science and techniques.

In fields of sciences like psychiatry, illusion is said to be a distortion of sensory perception. But no matter how negative this may sound, magic has entertained people based on illusion. This gives the impression that something impossible has occurred. Magic tricks are based on scientific principles but people do not seem to connect magic and science.

Different illusions are being used in magic and there are seven types of them.

? Production. These are magic tricks out of thin air. Producing something out of nothing. Tricks like these include appearing acts - rabbit coming out of an empty hat, coins from an empty pocket and the magician or an assistant appearing through a puff of smoke on an empty stage.

? Vanish. Tricks from this category are those disappearing acts like coins disappearing, a dove vanishing out of thin air by a clap of hand and stuffs inside silks into the hands of the magician but when opened revealed nothing. This category is the total opposite of production. The similar tricks are used but done in reverse.

? Transformation. As the word suggest, the tricks in this category involve those which transform anything to another form - chicken to an eagle, fire into a rabbit or a broom into a woman.

? Restoration. Magic tricks using this illusion is meant to restore something to the state it was once before like a cut rope into three parts back into one or cards cut into fourths and back to one.

? Teleportation. This illusion is meant to transfer things to another place. These are the classic tricks that truly amaze people like uncovered cages with one person each and they magically exchange places in a few seconds. This is what is known as double teleportation.

? Levitation. The trick involves lifting objects, animals and even people into air by using trance.

? Penetration. Tricks in this category involve the passing through of objects through a solid wall. One important thing in maintaining the illusion in magic tricks is the secrecy of the magician. The magician should maintain this secrecy in order to be respected and treated with credibility by other magicians. The only exception is when a magician shares the secrets of the trade with someone who is a serious student of magic.

Remember, you are “killing” the magic by telling the secrets of your tricks to others and reducing them to mere intellectual riddles and puzzles.

Dispelling the Myths Surrounding Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis NLP — maghyp @ 9:00 pm

You ve seen the stage acts where a hypnotist selects someone out
of the audience and when he claps his hands, the unwilling
participant struts around the stage clucking like a chicken.
You ve also seen movies where the hypnotist waves the pocket
watch in front of the subject as he utters, you re getting
sleepy very sleepy. Hypnosis is a little more than what
Hollywood or Vegas make it out to be. Below is a brief
overview.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring altered state of consciousness
in which the critical faculty is bypassed (mind in the conscious
mode) and acceptable selective thinking established. Wow!
That s a lot of technical jargon! Simply put, this means that
the reasoning, evaluating, judging part of your mind (conscious)
is bypassed.

Hypnosis deals with the subconscious. Have you ever driven to
work or home or anywhere, arrived at your destination but then
had little to no recollection of the drive? Your reasoning,
evaluating and judging parts of your mind were still intact and
functioning (read: you safely arrived at your location) but your
cognizant mind was bypassed. Hypnosis feels very much like that.
It s the same or similar feeling as when you day dream. People
under hypnosis know exactly what they are doing.

What about control? Many people fear being hypnotized because
they falsely believe they will have to give up control of their
mind. Not true. Think about when you are so engrossed in a movie
and you find yourself in tears. If you ve ever watched Saving
Private Ryan, the Titanic or the Passion of the Christ you know
this scenario all too well. During these movies you were so
involved that you actually felt emotion. You were literally in a
hypnotic trance. Most importantly, though, you still had the
power to emerge from that state if desired.

Your mind may be guided by a movie, self-hypnosis tape, or
hypnotist, but you still have the power to resist. If you fully
believe and acknowledge that you have the power to resist any
control of emotions, then hypnosis is nothing to fear.
Unfortunately, some people seem to give up partial control of
their minds because they misunderstand who has the power.
Unquestionably, someone can be fooled into believing that he has
given up control in some forms of stage hypnosis or other
experiments. That is likely what often happens in stage shows.
But just because someone was tricked doesn t mean it is right or
that it will happen to you that way.

Think about it. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are the one
who allows your mind to be placed into deep states. You are the
one who has the power to resist any unwanted suggestions. It s
really a misnomer when people say they were hypnotized. What
they really mean is that they allowed their mind to be hypnotized
or they allowed a hypnotist to give suggestions that they chose
to follow.

Just remember that no one controls your mind unless you first
grant permission!
