Hypnosis - Does It Help Or Hurt Recovery?

Filed under: Hypnosis NLP — maghyp @ 10:00 pm

You are getting relaxed and intensly concentrate on my words…hypnonsis can be very effective. This form of natural healing has a long history of use; with there even being evidence to suggest that ancient societies used forms of hypnosis in religious rituals. There are many professionals that continue to use including psychologists, psychiatrists and by certified hypnosis therapists.

1. Prejudices About Hypnosis

Hypnosis is most often related to entertaining stage shows where an audience participant is hypnotized and then does crazy things, like pretending to be a chicken. Hypnosis is also thought of by some as a tool to use to aid with the cessation of smoking. Hypnosis can be much more than a form of entertainment of a tool of self-help. Hypnosis can also be used to aid in the recovery of illnesses and injuries.

2. Forms Of Hypnosis

As with the medical field, there are many different forms of hypnosis. In one form of hypnosis, guided imagery is used. With this form, hypnotist guides the person into a relaxed state. This relaxed state is usually accomplished by helping the person visualize his stress and release it. Hypnotism can also be done through the use of direct suggestion. Through direct suggestion, the hypnotist puts the patient into a trance and repeatedly tells him to feel a certain way. Since the patient is more receptive to suggestion while in this trancelike state, he is easily convinced by direct suggestion.

3. Pain Relief

Hypnosis has been shown to aid individuals with pain relief. In fact, clinical studies have shown it to help relieve pain in patients suffering from cancer, burns and leukemia. It has also been shown to reduce pain in women undergoing childbirth and in dental patients undergoing dental procedures. Hypnosis has been shown to be an excellent alternative to individuals who do not wish to use highly addictive pain relievers, such as morphine, to relieve chronic pain. In fact, hypnosis has been used by some patients as the only analgesic while undergoing cardiac, abdominal, genitourinary, and breast surgery. Amazingly, those who use hypnosis rather than medicine for pain relief found their relief to be far superior.

4. Childbirth

Examples of those who use hypnotism are woman to reduce pain during childbirth, and cancer patients claim that hypnotism reduces pain while undergoing chemotherapy. In addition, many cancer patients believe hypnotism helped them recover from the disease.

5. Hospital Illness

Hypnotism has had such amazing results that major hospitals are even beginning to use hypnotism to help patients relieve pain and recover from illness more quickly. In fact, the University of North Carolina uses hypnotism to help patients control irritable bowel syndrome.

6. Recovery

Lots of research has been done on the road to recovery on this subject. Much research has been performed in the effects of hypnosis in recovery. One study was published several years ago that found that hypnotism before surgery helped patients require less pain medication. These patients also experienced fewer complications and were able to leave the hospital quicker than patients who did not receive hypnosis. If you look at brain research, hypnotism actually alters brain functioning and activates specific regions of the brain to control ability to focus and pay attention.

A Brief History Of Magic

Filed under: Magician Magic Shows — maghyp @ 10:00 pm

With magic, illusions, spells, tricks and ceremonials are usually performed for entertainment. It is a supernatural power which makes the seemingly impossible occur.

‘Looking Back’

In ancient Egypt, there was a magician named Dedi who performed in front of a crowd, where he supposedly beheaded two birds and one ox. He eventually restored the heads of these three animals.

Because of this, the Egyptians were considered to be the first magicians recorded in history.

As the popularity of magic developed, tricks involving cups and balls were shown to the public. Then, playing cards, silver coins and dice were added to their slew of magical tricks.

Later on, ancient Greek magicians invented tricks involving the human body. A trick where a performer thrusts a dagger through one’s arm without being hurt has been developed and shown in public places.

The ancient Chinese civilization also paved the way for magic. The “linking rings” is one of the earliest tricks ever invented. To begin with, a number of rings link themselves. The rings are made up of solid metal and the illusion is that they eventually unlink themselves.

‘Famous Magicians’

One of the greatest magicians of all time is Harry Houdini. He started as a trapeze performer in the late 1800’s and eventually became famous for his magical abilities.

He was an “escape artist” who bonded himself using locks or ropes and eventually extricated himself.

Spanish, Italian, British, French and American magicians presented their acts as magic regained popularity in the 1920’s.

‘Sawing a Woman in Half’

In 1921, the world first witnessed a magician saw a woman in half. British performer Percy Tibbles cut through a box containing his woman assistant. After the trick, she appeared without a harm.

This trick became even more complicated when the woman assistant was ‘operated on’ with her hands, head and feet in full view of the audience. The assistant was sawed in half using a power-driven saw, and was later restored without a scratch on her head.

‘Reaching a Wider Audience’

Before, magicians only performed in theaters which were open to the public where food and drinks were offered but the magic tricks were performed without any fee given by the viewers.

By the mid-1900’s, they paved the doors for magicians to be ‘professional performers’ by requiring the public viewers to pay for watching magic shows.

In the 1950’s, television was invented so magicians were able to reach an even wider audience spectrum.

During the 70’s, Siegfried and Roy re-ignited the interest in magical tricks by making large animals disappear. David Copperfield is also a major player in the field of magicians who offered great entertainment to the viewing public.

Filed under: Hypnosis NLP — maghyp @ 4:01 am

There is nothing on earth worse than exam nerves. For those who suffer from them, it can be downright debilitating. That crippling muddle of fear, confusion, and self-doubt that can make turn the easiest questions into mind-bending exercises of memory and thought. These crushing anxieties seem like they will turn your brain inside out right when you need it to stay clear and focused on the task at hand. Fortunately, there are cures for exam nerves. Hypnosis can provide you with the ability to relax and concentrate on your tests.

When you are about to begin a test, the exam nerves can kick in and start to make your mind seem like it is shouting a thousand things at you all at once. With hypnosis, you can practice some relaxation exercises that will allow you to calm your mind and help it concentrate. After all, hypnosis is very deep state of relaxation coupled with suggestion. By practicing mild self-hypnosis before a test, you can relax your mind before it undergoes the stress of a test. And, with some suggestion built in, you can ensure that your mind will stay calm and focused throughout the exam.

However, for those who suffer from a particularly debilitating form of exam nerves, hypnosis from a trained professional can provide you with the suggestions you need to perform come test time. Your mind is not working properly when exam nerves kick in. A trained hypnotist can provide you with the suggestion and post-hypnotic suggestion that will reprogram your mind to stop misfiring when you need it to run correctly. By calming that part of you mind that goes a little too fast before a test, the rest of your mind will be clear for the questions and problems that like before you. This will ensure that you will no longer freeze up when you need your mind to work at peak capacity.

Curing exam nerves is possible with hypnosis. If you fear the fear that comes before every test, you can help yourself succeed. Then, no longer hindered by a crushing fear of both the exam and your reaction to it, you can put yourself back on track to academic achievement. Don’t continue suffering. Let hypnosis help you conquer your exam nerves.
